We’re into week four of SYW’s two-parter, with Share Your World meeting the world of Harry Potter. We’re answering Melanie’s muggle-themed queries alongside those of Roger, this time invoking The Goblet of Fire. Check out everyone’s answers and join in.
Part I
- Many local regions, especially rural areas where I live, have haunted houses. Have you ever spent the night in a house that was supposedly haunted? Anything ‘strange” happen? I wish I could say I had a good haunted house story to tell. However, if you count the nights when as a child I could have sworn there was something under my bed or in the closet, well I have some haunting stories to tell.
2. The Quidditch Cup (riding broomsticks while chasing a small ball) was a huge sporting event in the land of Hogwarts. What is the largest sporting event (or concert, etc.) that you have ever attended? That would be a SEC championship college football game which normally I’d have caught on the telly. I’d never before seen so much underage and overage drinking, nor so much mass hysteria over the throwing of the ball and the catching thereof. And is there anything as asinine as doing “the wave.” On the positive side, it was fun being with friends and seeing so many people enjoy the game together without political virtue-signaling or self-righteous preening. You’ve probably guessed I haven’t been to a football game lately.
3. When you go for a swim, do you prefer an ocean, the seaside lakes, or a pool? An ocean, definitely, but otherwise, a pool, but it’s been many years since I’ve been able to swim.
4. Ron Weasley received a horrid robe to wear as formalwear to the Christmas dance at Hogwarts. Tell about the most ‘ghastly’ fashion statement that you have ever made. Who, me? Surely you jest.
Part II (Muggle Questions)
What is the last song you sang along to? Somehow my daughters got me singing karaoke with them the other night and I found myself doing Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now.”
What was your scariest nightmare about? Too scary to talk about.
What food do you crave most often? I’m on this crazy (medically-necessary) diet that restricts my choices severely, so I crave a whole cornucopia of foods. But most often, French fries and cheese.
What’s your grossest bug story? Seeing a puppy swallow a beetle whole. Ewww.
GRATITUDE SECTION (optional as always)

Four years ago I wrote a post celebrating “Memories and Refrigerator Doors” that expresses my gratitude for good memories and blank spaces that invite our creative attention. That hasnt’t changed.
And as always, I’m grateful for fellow bloggers who share their good humor, their talents, their energies in making this world a place worth sharing, specifically this week, encouragement from fellow creative artists and writers. Sláinte!
Thanks Dora for Sharing Your World and that always charming (and so incredibly cute) banner with the pup. I just love it! I’m going to take a peek at your “Refrigerator Doors..” because something like that needs to be shared around. So many people are blue these days or unsettled in some way. Thanks for brightening the world with your fun blog and these great answers! Have a wonderful week!

I had a ‘monster’ under my bed as well. My teddy bear slept on the outside edge of the bed- He kept me safe. If I had to visit the bathroom at night- I would jump as far away from the bed’s edge as possible so that the monster could not get me.
Thanks for participating in this weeks questions.

My logic for things-that-go-bump-in-the-night was to pretend that if I couldn’t see them they couldn’t see me: so I pulled the sheets way up and fell asleep that way … eventually 😀. Thanks for the entertaining questions, Roger.
