I wonder listlessly at rapacious melancholy,
its beast-stalking litheness, peripheral,
ghosting my mind-altered diminishment
how in the revenant fury of buried bones
whose salient menace springs expansively
as darkness goes unhallowed by requiescat in pace —
it thrives
I wonder clinging to my devourer.

So much spectacular word use here. I especially like:
“the revenant fury of buried bones”

The fury of buried bones made me think of “do not go gentle into that good night”…
rage rage against the dying of the light.

There are those who leave us more “ungently” than we would like, leaving us with their bitterness, regrets.

Wonderful fulsome words – beast-stalking litheness, mind-altered diminishment, rapacious melancholy – conveys the life and death struggle with depression. Powerful stuff powerfully written.

haunting, great use of words … a dance with depression?

Thanks, Kate! It could be a dance, but I was thinking in terms of depression’s predatory stalking.

Dora, this week I’m reading as an observer of it. Last week I was acutely mauled by it. Your word weaving does it’s darkness justice. I had to look up “requiescat in pace” and so true, it has no such dignity. Excellent wordsmithing!

You held my attention up to the last word… then throw the punch at the last line. And the imagery lights up. I didn’t expect this.
