I would be a leaf
in Thy kingdom, LORD,
to drink the glory of You.
In the portmanteau
compartments of life to carry
Your photons of life.
Replenished daily
by the fountains of Your love
sky-full, earth-replete.
Dancing in the wind
whose great power tender breathes
Your eternal joy.
Stormed by sorrow, strife
refuged by Your haven-wings;
exulting, there soar.

Haiku 5-7-5 Sammi's Weekend Writing Prompt #228 – "Portmanteau" – exactly 59 words Cee's Flower of the Day (FOTD) - September 26, 2021
is there a passage about a leaf in the bible, Dora? Or is this your original concept? I really like it!

David,
Not specifically, though there is the tree of life, the fig tree, Israel as the vineyard and the passage where Christ says he is the vine and we are the branches. The “leaf” conceit is borne of these images in a tangential way. The metaphor expresses my desire and satisfaction, contentment if you will, in my dependence on God alone. Much like David in Psalm 141: 2-3 when he compares himself to a weaned child.
